Haley and Derek invited their closest family and friends to celebrate a weekend of fun and love on Shelter Island this past October. The Rams Head Inn held a special place in Haley’s heart, her parents had their first date at this very venue over 40 years ago. They couldn’t have picked a better place for them to start their journey as husband and wife.
The wedding weekend started off with a welcome dinner the night before and polar bear plunge the morning of the wedding with the bride herself! The girls spent the day getting ready, hair and makeup by Elite Bridal Beauty, in a beautiful sun-filled room off the patio and was filled with laughter and lots of dancing.
When it came time to the ceremony, capturing Derek’s first glance at his soon to be wife and then staring directly at the camera made me one happy photographer. As Haley walked down in Anne Barge wedding dress, I think the whole wedding was left speechless. Their vows were incredibly emotional and informative of them as a couple and as individuals. As an outsider myself, I learned so much about them and what they each fell in love with about one another.
As a special surprise for the guests, the bride and groom wrote every single one of them a hand written note that was left at their place setting in the reception. The tables and bouquets by Patty’s Berries and Bunches made each table so colorful and warm and were the perfect shades of purple.
Ending the night with the Atomic Funk Project keeping the dance floor filled and myself singing, it was truly an epic celebration.
