Shoes, Shoes, Shoes | Wedding Day Tips For Brides

Wedding Wednesday is here again and I’m so excited to share another post for my Tips For Brides section on the blog! Like my first post, we are going to talk about the details of your wedding and how to make them personalized and unique, but this time we are going to talk about shoes!

Shoes are one of the most coveted aspects of any woman’s closet as well as on their wedding day. Some women spend a small fortune on what they put on the soles of their feet so I figured this would be a great opportunity to talk about how to vamp up the photographs of your shoes on your wedding day!

As your wedding photographer, and slight OCD perfectionist, I am here to tell the story of your wedding day from beginning to end. If you refer to the first portion of this series, you can read why I think the details are just as important as any other portion of the wedding day and your shoes are one of the most important, and sometimes the most expensive.

Don’t get me wrong, I love simplicity and capturing the beauty of the shoes themselves. But sometimes adding a little character and a few props, brings the photograph up a notch and really helps tell your unique and special day.

The first few photographs show the same pair of shoes, three different ways. The shoes themselves are gorgeous but when adding different elements to them, it helps make your wedding day story cohesive and exciting. The first photograph has the shoes standing all on their lonesome – which I love and appreciate – but when we add a small flower and the brides veil, it helps bring out other aspects of the day and also a small glimpse of what’s to come during the rest of the day.

Adding the bride’s jewelry and accessories is also a great way to add more dimension to the photo and we also can’t forget about the guys! The bottom picture is a pair of black, shiny leather shoes and a bow tie, very standard at a formal wedding where the men are in tuxes. But when we had the boutonniere and mask, it helps tell the story of this epic Halloween wedding. Without those props, it could have been any other formal wedding attire.

Brides – So when you are finalizing everything with your florist the week of – just ask them to leave out a few loose flowers or greenery from your bouquets or centerpieces, you won’t be sorry!
